David Ward Middendorf, 74, of Jacksonville, died Thursday,
August 23, 2018, at Lavender Ridge in Jacksonville.
He was born March 3, 1944, in Jacksonville, the son of
Alvin and Lois Rigdon Middendorf. He married Carol Kirsch
on August 12, 1967, in Homewood and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters and five
grandchildren, Valerie (Brian) Holland and their children
Gabriel, Nicole and Samantha of Dayton, OH, and Allison
(Brent) Johnson and their children Kailey and Brynn of
Gulfport, MS; two brothers, Richard Middendorf of
Jacksonville, and Garland Middendorf of Rocheporte, MO;
and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
Mr. Middendorf was a 1962 graduate of Jacksonville High
School and then graduated from Bradley University in 1968.
He spent most of his life in Jacksonville as a partner in
the Middendorf Bros. Auctioneers, Real Estate, and
Appraisal Business. He had also served in the Illinois
National Guard and then the Army Reserves. Davidís
favorite times were the hours spent on Lake Norfork with
family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 26,
2018, at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
The family will meet friends 12-2 p.m. prior to the
service. Private burial will be held at Memorial Lawn
Cemetery at a later date. Following the service, the
family will host a Celebration of Life gathering at
Hamiltonís 110 North East in Jacksonville. Memorials are
suggested to SIU Foundation Alzheimerís Programs.
